	Elephant Encounters. The Lowveld is "blessed' with having two organisations that offer "Elephant Encounters" - Elephant Whispers and Elephant Sanctuary. Both of these are based just outside Hazyview. Below is information on one of these tours - Elephant Sanctuary. Elephant Sanctuary All our elephants are rescued African elephants and we have gained their trust through our unique reward based training. We believe in forming bonds between humans and elephants. All our elephants are exercised and stimulated daily, which provides a firm foundation for trust. Elephants are highly intelligent and delightful: you will discover a different character, personality and temperament within each one. We are a family orientated operation catering for the young and old. Our focus is on education through interaction, so you will not only learn a lot about elephants, but also get to touch, feel, feed, walk trunk-in-hand and even ride these magnificent animals. We offer our guests exhilarating elephant driven programs, where the most important part of our operation is happy elephants and satisfied guests. Our programs offer one of a kind elephant interaction and are unique to The Elephant Sanctuary.

Elephant Sanctuary

The Trunk-in-hand Program: Duration 1hour 30 minutes at 08h00, 10h00, 13h00 & 15h00
An experienced guide will introduce you to the elephants and you will learn about their backgrounds, behaviors, characters and more, while being able to touch, feel, feed, interact and walk trunk-in-hand with the elephants.

Elephant Brush Downs: Duration 2 hours @ 07h30 sharp.
This is a very special program - you take part in the morning grooming of the elephants. This is followed by the Trunk-in-Hand program.

Trunk-in-hand & Elephant Back Ride: Duration approximately 2 hours.
This includes the full Trunk-In-Hand program followed up by an elephant riding experience - a privilege historically reserved for kings! It is a truly amazing experience to ride these magnificent animals. Riding aspect of program ± 15-20 minutes. Minimum age of 8 years.

Extreme Elephant Experience: Duration 2 hours 30 minutes.
Join us on a unique elephant experience for 2.5 hours. This includes a Trunk-in-hand program and elephant back ride of 20min with some sundowner drinks and light snacks at our sundowner deck. This program is ended off with brushing of the elephants and accompanying them back to the stables.

Elephant brush down:
2-3 people. R1 350 per person.

Trunk in hand plus Elephant back ride:
