Drive the Big 5's Fleet

TOURS ~ Kapama/Moholoholo

Go behind the scenes and see what man has to do to rectify the damage that he has caused to nature. Due to man's greed for land and due to our dominance over things that are wild, we have hunted certain animals almost to extinction or have deprived certain animals of their land, thereby making them “endangered”. The Hoedspruit Cheetah Project - or the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Foundation as they prefer to be called - is dedicated to the preservation of the species. Join Drive The Big 5 on a 2 hour-tour of this amazing Foundation.

A stone’s throw from the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Foundation is Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre. A non-profit organization dedicated to the rehabilitation of injured, orphaned and abandoned wild animals. View these animals from close up and learn why it’s not always possible to re-introduce these unfortunate creatures back into the wild. Appreciate their new role in life, that of educator - to teach us humans the need to conserve. The Rehabs methods have been viewed by some as controversial but by all as thought provoking. Visit Moholoholo with Drive The Big 5 and draw your own conclusions.

This is a unique combination where you get to look at what is being done to rehabilitate animals and particularly birds which have been injured, poisoned or orphaned. Enter walk crowned eagles, vultures, fish eagles and many other rap leopard cubs, play with a honey badger, look eye to eye with a lion, all at Moholoholo, then move onto the Cheetah Project which is only a 45 minute drive away. This is a unique project, which conducts essential research on endangered species and provides guests the opportunity to view animals that have found a home here, in their natural surroundings. View the King Cheetah, wild dog and other endangered species.

Departure from a destination in White River / Nelspruit / Hazyview would be at 07h00 to be at the Re-hab centre by 09h30. The Programme at Moholoholo lasts approximately 2 hours. At about 12h00 we depart for the Cheetah Project to arrive there by 13h00 for lunch, which is for the guests own account. At 14h00 we enter the auditorium for a video presentation on project is all about and then we do a tour of the facility. The whole programme lasts also about 2 to 2 hours. We should be back at the Lodge by 18h30.
